Dear Parents and Pupils,A reminder that Dancing in Kent (April issue) has a review on Prima – to subscribe, go to: www.dancinginkent.co.uk The recent theatre trip to see ‘Wicked’ was fantastic – it was great to see such an original and humorous musical with amazing singing, dancing and wonderful special effects and staging – well worth a trip if you haven’t already seen it. I will now be looking at possibly doing another theatre trip in the Summer Holidays – so keep reading the newsletters and let me know if there are any shows you’d like to see. ENGLISH YOUTH BALLET Jessica Thornton has just learnt that as a reserve from the original auditions, she has now been offered a place – so she will be joining her brother, Lewis and Gina Cook and Louisa Perry. I made a mistake in the last newsletter, I put Kent Youth Ballet – sorry. DRAMA/SINGING SUCCESS Emily Christian recently entered seven singing/drama and instrumental classes in an Arts Festival (Methodist Church Eisteddfod, Whitstable) and she won them all – well done Emily. Emily is a true all-rounder and she also recently auditioned for the Sound of Music. She had a re-call but unfortunately was not offered a role – but I’m sure she’ll secure a major role sometime in the future. IDTA EXAMS (March session) A 100% pass rate – well done everyone, and especially to the highest scorers - Katie Hutchings (90% – Advanced 1 Modern Jazz); Lucy Rowe (90% – Gde 5 Ballet); Louisa Perry (89% - Gde 5 Ballet) and Gina Cook (88% Gde 1 Modern Jazz and Gde 5 Ballet). Lucy and Louisa have also been nominated by the examiner to participate in the 2009 IDTA Awards next year and further congratulations go to Jessica Cook; Charlotte Smith and Michelle Smith for also achieving high scores in their Advanced 1 Modern Jazz. A LOVELY PANTOMIME Tickets go on sale from the Hazlitt Box Office from 1st April (£9.50 and £7.00, concessions) – Prince Lovely is on a mission to find his childhood sweetheart 'Bikini' before he is This show involves about a third of Prima pupils, but all are welcome to watch and it will appeal to the younger children as well as adults. The very clever and humorous script has been written by students, Shannon Harris and Laura Flawn and Shannon has also penned and composed several songs. Please support this show even if your child isn’t appearing and if your child hasn’t been to the Hazlitt before, it will help prepare them for next year’s show when the whole school, including the 3 year olds, are involved.
