About Prima Stage School

Prima Stage School follows the IDTA Graded syllabus for Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz and Musical Theatre with medal tests for Street Dance and cheerleading, and the LAMDA syllabus for Reading of Poetry and Prose for Drama. Children usually study a particular grade for between 12 and 18 months and we hold a record of excellent examination results with 100% pass rate.

Children are never held back, nor do our classes have mixed grades. The average number of students in a syllabus class is 8 with a maximum number of 12 (our fun Street Dance classes will cater for up to 25 in the class, hence the lower price). We are also aware that children can only be stretched so far in a part-time school such as ours. With that in mind, I invite top London choreographers to do regular workshops in all areas of performance – these are open to all older students with occasional junior workshops. We also encourage suitable students to audition for outside companies such as the English Youth Ballet; National Youth Ballet; local pantomime and Associate classes with top vocational colleges to widen their performance skills as much as possible.

All classes are designed to technically develop students to reach their full potential whether on a recreational or professional level

Prima Youth Theatre

From 11yrs, if a child is showing a natural talent in musical theatre (predominantly Singing and Drama), we invite them to join our very own Youth Theatre (started in Sept.’ 08). This is still in the early stages, but the aim of the group is to work at a higher level and as well as performing in our regular shows, will have additional performance opportunities and be more prepared to audition for vocational colleges.

The I.D.T.A.

The International Dance Teachers Association (I.D.T.A.) was founded in 1967 by the amalgamation of several dance societies. It is a nonprofit making organization of teachers for whom it provides a comprehensive examination service. It is responsible for more examinations in dance then any other similar organization in the world. Prima Stage School is proud to be a member of this organisation and holds its own I.D.T.A. Examinations several times a year.
