Prima Stage School has been established in Maidstone and Larkfield since 1990 and is now based at the Invicta Dance Studios in the Larkfield Leisure Centre with branch classes at the Kings Hill Centre, West Malling We aim to provide a good all-round theatre dance education with qualified teachers of all !.D.T.A. grades and medals from 3 years to professional artist.
Syllabus Classes: I.D.T.A. grade syllabus dance classes in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Theatrecraft and Modern Jazz. Also singing and LAMDA Drama. These classes are designed for the teaching of technique for performance on the professional stage. These classes are run termly.
Non-Syllabus Classes: These are classes for fun, with the emphasis on performance. These include Freestyle (street dance) and Cheerleading, leading to I.D.T.A. medal tests. Classes paid weekly. Also Theatre Workshops with Musical Repertoire.
Prima pupils have performed with the Kent Youth Ballet, on the London Stage, Pantomime, TV, Festivals, Modelling and numerous amateur productions, including our own shows at the Hazlitt Theatre.

Ballet
Pre-ballet (primettes) to Intermediate Artist. Important for developing classical technique, strength and control, posture and srtistry. A foundation for all forms of dance.
Tap
All Grades from preparatory to Advanced 1. Teaches rhythms and musicality.
Modern Jazz Dance
All grades to Intermediate Artist. This is a dynamic dance form, teaching the modern approach to Theatre Dance. Also encourages creativity and self awareness.
Theatrecraft
All grades to Intermediate Artist. Teaches stage technique, staging and musical understanding anf the type of dancing performed in musicals.
Contemporary Dance
Expressive and creative modern dance teaching strong technique leading to performance. 14 years plus with minimum of 3 years ballet training.
General Dance
A graded syllabus teaching excellent grounding in all forms of dance and is ideal for beginner dancers of 11 yrs plus.
Drama (LAMDA)
Teaches acting technique, voice production, audition skills and an appreciation of literature.
Singing
Group sessions - songs from musicals and popular songs.
Musical Theatre
A class combining Dance, Drama and singing leading to a stage performance and opportunities to work towards graded exams through the Professional Teachers Association.
Freestyle and Cheerleading
Lively Classes leading to medal tests and summer display work. |
